The exhibition “Poppy – Hemp – Drugs” was displayed on the rooftop terrace of the National Agricultural Museum in Prague‑Holešovice from October 2024 to March 3, 2025. Afterward, it moved to the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague (VŠCHT) and is currently presented at CTU Kladno (Czech Technical University). In June 2026, the exhibition will relocate to the botanical garden of Masaryk University in Brno.

About the Exhibition

The exhibition Poppy – Hemp – Drugs consists of 21 information panels. Some topics are expanded on the website through pages accessible via QR codes printed on the exhibition boards.

Opening Event (Vernissage)

The opening ceremony, under the subtitle “Helpers and Tempters of Humanity,” was held on 17 October 2024.

It offered a fascinating look into:

  • the world of poppy as a food plant,
  • hemp as a food and textile crop, and
  • other plants and fungi such as coca, kratom, tobacco, ephedra, and psilocybin mushrooms.

All these species have legitimate industrial, nutritional, or medical uses, though many are also subject to illegal use worldwide.


Visitor statistics and schools

The opening day attracted 570 paying visitors, including 367 students from selected secondary schools.
