The Czech Blue Poppy Association brings together honest growers, processors, consultants, and traders of Papaver somniferum for food use.

The Association organizes several events every year, some of which are also open to non-members for a participation fee.

Professional Seminars

At the beginning of each year, the Czech Blue Poppy Association organizes professional seminars presenting the latest findings and trends in poppy cultivation and trade with this food commodity.
These seminars, titled “Poppy in the Year 20XY”, were traditionally held in four different locations across the Czech Republic. In recent years, they have taken place physically in one location, while also being broadcast online.

The seminar results in a publication called the “Poppy Newsletter”, a collection of contributions that all participants receive.
For non-members of the Association, entry to the seminars is subject to a fee.

The Professional Seminar “Poppy in 2026” was held on 17 February 2026 in Větrný Jeníkov in a hybrid format (with online streaming).
The recorded presentations are available exclusively to Association members.

Field Days

The Association organizes Field Days, mainly for members, usually in May and June. In May, these events are held under the name “Current Issues in Poppy Fields”, and in June as “A Day for Poppy”.

Field Days take place in two locations during the season — around Prague and in the Haná region.
They include tours of poppy fields and small-plot trials featuring various experiments: different poppy varieties, pesticide and fertilizer trials, biostimulants, seed treatments, and more.

Participants can discuss and consult individually with researchers and representatives of agrochemical companies.

In addition, a Field Day is organized under semi-operational conditions in the Vysočina Region and Dolní Pěna near Jindřichův Hradec.
For non-members, attendance at Field Days is subject to a fee..

In 2026, Field Days for members will take place at four sites:

  • Thursday, 4 June 2026: Nouza s.r.o., Dolní Pěna (semi-operational + drone demonstration), district Jindřichův Hradec – invitation for members and guests
  • Friday, 12 June 2026: Kostelec na Hané, district Prostějov
  • Friday, 19 June 2026: Červený Újezd, district Praha‑západ – CANCELLED
