The exhibition on the theme Poppy-Hemp-Drugs was displayed on the rooftop of the National Agricultural Museum in Prague-Holešovice from October 2024 to March 3, 2025. It then continued at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague and is currently located at CTU Kladno. In June 2026, the exhibition will move to Masaryk University’s botanical garden.
The Poppy-Hemp-Drugs exhibition consists of 21 panels in total. Some information has been placed in expanded form on web pages, with QR codes on the panels linking to them. These pages include:

The opening of the exhibition with the subtitle “Helpers and Seducers of Humanity” took place on October 17, 2024. It offered a fascinating look at the world of poppy as food, hemp as food and textile crop, and introduced the world of other plants and fungi such as coca, kratom, tobacco, ephedra, and psilocybin mushrooms. All these crops and plants have their legal uses, but often – especially worldwide – illegal applications as well.
At the opening on October 17, visitors had the opportunity to:
- Learn about the history, cultivation, and use of these plants in food production, medicine, and industry, as well as their misuse as addictive substances
- Meet experts from agriculture, food industry, medicine, and drug policy fields and ask them questions
- Attend expert lectures and especially visit stands of various institutions dealing with these issues
- Participate in tasting culinary specialties made from poppy and hemp in the NZM tasting areas or at some of the stands
The opening was attended by 570 paying visitors, including 367 students from selected secondary schools. Some schools also posted information on their websites.
